Terry held off the challengers and the rain

A mixed bag of weather and fishing fortunes on Sunday at Haye Farm. Despite the sudden downpours, Terry started catching from the inside margin on big pellet. Barry started off well opposite Terry, but couldn’t sustain the pressure on him. Meanwhile further down the pool Rob was having a nightmare with lost fish and tree snags. But he persevered to beat Mel into third place.

In addition we all wish Mickey a speedy recovery.

Guy remains on top of the leader board followed by Terry who is still chasing and waiting for more slip ups. We weighed in a total of 242lb at this match.

Match 3 – Haye Farm 28/04/2019

Dexter Pool

12 fished

Dexter Pool (20 pegs) stocked with carp, roach, bream, tench and rudd. The biggest carp weigh over 25 lbs. The fishery has been established over 20 years and is very well stocked

On the back of the colder weather there was speculation that this could prove a difficult venue. Everyone was going through different methods without really catching consistently on a successful method. Pole fishing the margins On the ledge at 2+2 sections, Pellet, Cage and method feeders, Pellet wagglers, Long pole shallow and the list goes on. Mel eventually got carp feeding shallow by spraying maggots to 13 metres, including a 12-2 carp on the pole which gave a him a good scrap. Barry was also catching from his corner peg which has a good variety of options as there are pegs on this pool to his right. Rob and Guy were also chopping and changing methods to try and work out what the fish wanted and how they wanted it.

With this win, Mel denied Rob his hat trick of wins but he still remains as the early leader in the points.

Spraying maggots or pinging pellets for the cruising carp.

Curtis Pool

drm001Here we go again, the headline writes itself this week.

Try Keeping up with the Joneses, well you’d have to to get in the frame on Curtis Pool last Sunday.  Guy Jones romped this one, his nearest challenge came from his spouse Carol Jones.  There was no shortage of fish shoaled up and swimming around ready for spawning following the great weather we’ve had this week.

So a one-two for Team Jones and just a thought those maggots are nearly the same colour as Simon’s ankles.

Match 11 – Haye Farm 03/09/2017

14 fished

Dexter Pool

A day of showers and autumnal feel greeted anglers visiting Haye Farm last Sunday.  We still had a good turnout of 14 in total and a welcome return to Billy who hasn’t fished for a while. Fish were topping on Dexter Pool, there were plenty of fish moving about and a few favoured pegs were being noted before the draw. Read more of this post
