Match 14 – Aston Eyre 25/09/2021

Quarry Pool

13 fished

Last day of summer 2021?

Mark should have had a ton here! Paul lost the top 2 kit of his pole, but wasn’t going in to rescue it. Instead it seemed to visit every peg on the pool at least once, with everyone having a cast at it to claim the fish that was obviously still hooked. Mark continued catching fish, but then missing his keep net with a ’12 pounder’. Then he caught the bonus fish, retrieving Paul’s top 2 kit and landing the carp that was still attached. Another ’12 pounder’ only to miss his keep net again. So a possible 24lb returned to the pool, however it didn’t affect the result as he won by a clear 20lb.

Allan was pegged next to Mark, and while Mark was catching ’12 pounders’ Allan landed a brilliant ’18 pounder’ the biggest single fish landed this season.

We weighed in 628lbs or 285kg.

Match 11 – Broseley 22/08/2021

Lodge Lane

12 fished

Sunny spells, mostly cloudy.

This was our doubles match of the season, so in addition to the individual result, there is a trophy for the winning doubles partners. Carol was ecstatic when she was partnered with Terry, hoping for a first trophy, instead of having to polish all the ones Guy takes home each season πŸ˜‚. But there seems to be no stopping Martin at the moment cruising to a hat-trick of wins at Lodge Lane. But how well had his doubles partner Dave done, could they make it a clean sweep.

The doubles match pairings were:

  • Jack and Mark
  • Carol and Terry
  • Guy and Simon
  • Martin and Dave
  • Barry and Mel
  • Trev and Paul

Part of Guy’s catch included an impressive 20-14 of silvers but was it enough to win the match or the doubles?

We weighed in 399lbs or 181kg.

Match 9 – Cancelled

Our match at Haye Farm was cancelled due to lack of numbers, a mixture of holidays, COVID pingdemic and not liking the venue meant that this match was cancelled.

Match 8 – Furnace Mill 11/07/2021

Mucky Meadow

11 fished

Sunny spells with a swirling southerly breeze.

“I need some help here lads!”

We all so nearly witnessed that JC (that’s Jack Cheadle by the way – not the other one) can’t walk on water, it was so close when Jack’s platform collapsed, nearly bucking him into the water πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ†˜ as he was trying to land a fish. Sorry for the photo, if I could of kept a steady hand, I could of captured the moment as he shouted I need some help here lads, TERRY! Well Mark arrived on the scene before Terry and Trev to help save Jack’s tackle, and make his peg safe. As Jack thanked them all for helping save him and his tackle, he commented that he’d never seen Guy move so fast. Guy’s response was priceless, I’d have fished you out if you’d swam all the way over to my peg. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

We weighed in 417lbs or 189kg.

Match 7 – Cobhouse 26/06/2021

Chestnut Pool

15 fished + 2

Overcast, with sunny spells with an Easterly wind.

All in!

Our annual outing was at Cobhouse, as we returned to Chestnut Pool for the first time in a couple of years. A fantastic breakfast served at the Mayfly cafe, set us up for the day. Trev and Martin commenced the draw as we continue to abide to COVID guidelines. With the pags drawn, the banter started as everyone eyed up their pegs and assessed their chosen methods and chances of winning.
