Match 4 – Larford 9/05/2021

Specimen Pool

Overcast, with a brisk south westerly wind. Pool carrying a lot of extra water.

Martin! Martin! Which peg are you on?

Once again we struggled, the weights from Larford were disappointing everyone struggled for bites. There was a lot of extra depth from the weeks rain and it appeared that the fish had gone into hibernation.

Some good stamp Bream were caught, along with the small stockie carp that made up the majority of the weigh ins. Only Martin managed to land a ‘specimen’ carp which is also the biggest fish landed so far this season, weighing in at 15-4. That fish boosted his weight, and he went on to win the match with a total weight of 38-0. In second place was Terry with 24-8. Dan made up the frame from end peg 15 with 20-0. As you can see from the weights, fishing isn’t right yet, the weather needs to improve for the fish to really get on the feed and give us at least half a chance to catch’em.

Terry has closed the gap between him and Guy, who still retains his lead at the top of the leader board after four matches.

We weighed in 171lbs or 77.5kg.

Match 10 – Larford 28/07/2019

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I arrived at my peg, as soon as I stepped onto the wooden platform to setup the number of carp that spooked into the bay was like a tidal wave. Permanent peg 66 is a bit of a kamikaze peg, an end peg more suited to a left handed angler. So I setup a pellet feeder and 3 rigs for my margin pole, when the whistle sounded the all-in the carp were still visible in front of me, so I started on the pellet feeder. The first five chucks, I landed five carp putting approximately 25-0 into the net.

Guy remains on top of the leader board followed by Terry who is still chasing and waiting for more slip ups. We weighed in a total of 485lb at this match.

Match Pool – Burr Bank

Our club match record was broken for the third time this season, twice in this match!

With 5 anglers recording  over a 100lb catches, an overall club record was on the cards as well as potential individual record.  The match was won by Dan Podmore off peg 64 by catching on the inside from the start of the match. There were also loads of claims of anglers losing fish – some lead us to believe they could have even doubled their weight if they landed every fish that they hooked.

We weighed in a total over 1,052lb. Well done everyone.
