In the Spotlight, Mickey Meah.

Mickey Meah is our club chairman, so when I thought about doing an angler interview feature, where better to start than with the man himself.

PP: So, when did it all start, when did you start fishing?
MM: I started fishing when I was 12 years old.

PP: And can you recall the first fish that you caught?
MM: Yes, it was a small perch at earls wood lakes.

PP: What was your favourite ever match, and why?
MM: That was when I was 17. I made my first trip to Ireland (Virginia co Cavan) a rod, a basket and a tub of worms. 62 anglers entered the contest on the river black water. I was fortunate to win my first ever contest with 65 pound of bream.

Solhampton Match

If anyone is interested for the next match at Solhampton, breakfast will be available as usual.

Annual Outing Arrangements

The annual outing is at The Old Hough.  The tackle van will be at the Unicorn car park on Friday 21/07 between 6:00pm and 7:30pm.  Please can all anglers who require this facility please meet here to load their tackle onto the van.

On Saturday 22/07 the mini bus is scheduled to leave at 7:00am.  Breakfasts have been arranged at a local Wetherspoons where the draw will take place.  Then hopefully a full day of action packed fishing.  Followed up with a few pints at various pubs on the way back to Dawley.

This year we want at least one group photo to add to the site!

Breakfast at Monkhall

The on-site cafe, which serves hot food, hot and cold drinks, will open for our match tomorrow if we get there early enough. Don’t forget the draw time is 11am. Read more of this post

No Wet Nets

Please can everyone fishing the next match at Aston Eyre 6th May, ensure that all keep nets and landing nets are dry.  All nets will be checked before the draw.

Ready to go fishing?

The new season is not too far away, so here is a reminder to renew your fishing license by visiting the new website

Prices have increased this year. A 12 month license will cost £30 from 1 April.

We’re not fishing here ever!

The Telford Journal strikes again, just to reassure you all this is not a match fixture change, and who came second in our last match?

Important Match News

Due to the outbreak of KHV being confirmed at Larford Lakes, Tony Crann has informed Brian that all keep nets and landing nets will be inspected before our match on Saturday.

Club Rules Additions

For the attention of all club members, following the decisions voted FOR at the AGM earlier this year, two rule additions have been made to the Club rules.  Brian you might have to add these to your personal rule book we hear so much about.

Important Reminder!

Trev has asked me to remind all members that they MUST let a committee member know if they are not able to fish a match (see rule 19 & 20).  Otherwise you will still have to pay your peg fees for the matches missed.  It also allows us to invite guests to fish and make up the numbers, and offset the costs.
